What does extended network mean on your cell phone?

I just moved to a new state, and every time I use my Verizon phone now says that “the network” on my screen. I checked your site and Verizon says it has coverage in my area – Bowling Green, KY. Does this mean I get charged more each time I use my phone? I have a national plan, and I’m not roaming. I do not get the rete.Grazie thing.

Yes! That DOES consider as roaming, Verizon is going to terminated your services if you use it too much.
The reason is Verizon does not provider service in that area so they have roaming agreement with other wireless provider (Parter) to provide you service in that area, that mean you not using Verizon network you are using other wireless provider network, and Verizon have to pay that wireless provider for ever minutes you made, and that mean Verizon is losing money than making money from you.

It means you are roaming. True Verizon gives you a nationwide plan but there are some places that are not Verizon areas. So you are riding off someone elses network hence extended. More than likely it’s alltell. You might be getting charged yes. There are places that are not Verizon I know the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is one of them, when I visit family there I dont any of my Verizon Text messages and I am always roaming.
